Tonight we are having our youth group Christmas parties we hope that you can come for a great time of fellowship and fun. If you would like to bring something for the Sunday School class that you are in or your family is in please contact Pastor Randy Hernandez and coordinate what you can bring tonight.
Here is a few verses to meditate on this afternoon:[Matthew 1:18-25] Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
Here is some application for you and your family to discuss:
- For men & young men- Did you know that Joseph was a hard working man and he honored God and despite everything that was going on around him honored God. Joseph didn’t know what he was getting into when he asked Mary to be his wife. Joseph really showed his faithfulness to God when he stayed with Mary even though the custom at the time would be to divorce the woman and then possibly stone her for being pregnant without being married. Joseph showed his love for his wife and for His Lord when instead of asking questions he simply obeyed in simple faith to the Lord and decided to go through with the marriage. This faithful man was the father of Jesus, what a great example for us as we look to live our lives in light of God in our choices. How are you being a man like Joseph and deciding to believe God no matter what others are saying around you? Can it be said of you that you are a just man like Joseph (Matthew 1:19)?
